Burt Munro - A Scrapbook of His Life - its an enchanting book. Not unlike thumbing through your own great-uncles photo album, the books takes us on trip down a memory lane that you and I are only vaguely familiar with; but by the end of the thick 228 pages, we feel like we know this great, funny and fast man.
The scrapbooky, "sound bite" kind of format lends itself very well to the tale of Burt Munro's childhood, coming of age, and interest in all things explosive from bombs to internal combustion engines.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and indeed this heavily imaged book is ripe with personal photographs, newspaper clippings alongside colourful written memories - really a perfect tribute to Burt Munro.
